Qijin Island (旗津島), known for its fresh seafood and beautiful sunsets, was once connected to mainland Taiwan at the southern tip. This link was severed in 1967 to create a second entry point for the Port of Kaohsiung. Qijin Island is also accessible by the Cross Harbor Tunnel as well as two ferries crossings that travel to the northern top and middle of the island.
